We seek working-condition computer systems that can be repurposed for use in academic setting in Haiti. Acceptable systems include PC equipped with at least a Core i5, Core i7 or equivalent processor and Macs with Apple silicon M1 or later processors. In most cases, the equipment should not be more than 7 years old. Both desktop and laptop units are acceptable. Multi-unit donations of similar systems are highly desired. Working condition, non-color, laser printers are also accepted as well as certain networking and peripheral apparatus.
ZL is a registered 501(c)(b). Your donation of assets are 100% tax deductible. Still, there is a cost associated with protecting sensitive data that may be stored on de-activated computer systems. That is why we offer a variety of options for transferring decommissioned equipment.
You ensure that all sensitive data is removed from systems prior to transfer to ZL. Depending on the nature of the data, this involves clean wiping the system or removing the hard drive entirely.
You request ZL to wipe the systems upon physically receiving the equipment at our facility. We use industry standard tools (such as Acronis) to wipe the hard drive of computers when requested.
You request ZL to wipe the system or remove the hard drives on-site prior to physically transferring the assets.
Apple products participating in a donor organization's Business Manager program must be released prior to transfer to ZL.
